What it is
Agent orchestration is the coordination layer that chains several AI steps, or several specialised AI subsystems, into one continuous workflow rather than a set of tools a person has to operate one at a time. For a recruitment BD motion, that means researching a company, scoring it against your ICP, and drafting the outreach that follows, run as a single pass instead of three separate actions with a person moving the output between them.
It is not the same as having "AI" in several places in your stack. A scraper that finds companies, a scoring spreadsheet and a sequencer that sends emails can each be individually powered by AI and still not be orchestrated, because nothing connects what one found to what the next one does with it. Orchestration is specifically the wiring: which step runs after which, what context carries forward, and what the system does with what it just learned.
Orchestration is the difference between four AI-powered tools and one AI employee.
Why it matters
Recruitment desks accumulate tools fast. Industry research into agency tech stacks has found teams naming close to twenty different tools across their stack while actively using only a handful day to day, and most recruiting teams running at least three separate tools on top of their core ATS. Every gap between those tools is a place where a person has to re-enter data, re-explain context, or simply forget to check a system that already had the answer.
That fragmentation is exactly what point-tool AI reproduces instead of fixing. An enrichment plugin that does not talk to your scoring model, and a scoring model that does not talk to whatever drafts the message, is three assistants, not one employee. Each one is a genuine improvement on doing that single step by hand, but the seams between them are still yours to manage. Orchestration is what removes the seams, not just what speeds up the steps.
How boilr handles it
boilr's agent is built around orchestration, not a menu of separate features. It runs Companies, Candidates, Signals and Tasks in a single loop: it discovers and enriches a company, checks it against your ICP, watches for a buying signal, and drafts the outreach that follows from what it actually found, all as one chain rather than tools you operate one after another. Every step writes back into the Company Brain, so the scoring step already knows what the research step learned, and the next signal on that account starts from where the last task left off.
That is the mechanism that lets boilr act as an AI sales employee rather than a single-purpose point tool: orchestration is the plumbing underneath the job title. It still stops at the same place every time, a finished task in your inbox to verify and send, so the coordination happens automatically and the judgement stays with you.
