What it is

Agent orchestration is the coordination layer that chains several AI steps, or several specialised AI subsystems, into one continuous workflow rather than a set of tools a person has to operate one at a time. For a recruitment BD motion, that means researching a company, scoring it against your ICP, and drafting the outreach that follows, run as a single pass instead of three separate actions with a person moving the output between them.

It is not the same as having "AI" in several places in your stack. A scraper that finds companies, a scoring spreadsheet and a sequencer that sends emails can each be individually powered by AI and still not be orchestrated, because nothing connects what one found to what the next one does with it. Recruitment desks accumulate tools fast. What is the difference between agent orchestration and agentic AI?

Agentic AI describes the autonomy: a system that plans and pursues a goal rather than waiting for a prompt at every step. Agent orchestration describes the plumbing that makes multi-step autonomy actually work in practice, how research, scoring and drafting are wired together so each step can use what the last one found. You need agentic behaviour to decide what to do next, and orchestration to actually carry it out as one flow.

Why can't a set of separate point tools do the same thing?

They can do each individual step, but nothing connects them. A company enrichment tool does not know what your scoring tool decided, and your scoring tool does not know what your outreach tool is about to draft, so a person has to move the output from one to the next by hand. That handoff is exactly where time gets lost and context gets dropped, even when every individual tool is good.

Does more orchestration mean less human oversight?
